When Luke, Alyssa, and I were talking on the phone about making this score for Roxanne, we wanted it to feel like a field recording of us playing around in a sandbox with our own instinct and untamed sounds.

I’d send snippets of a practice room piano or time-stretched baroque recorder improvisations to Luke. He’d add things like textural whale call bedrocks, choppy polyrhythms and bass clarinet squawks. Alyssa would respond with scratchy violin communications or densely layered drones and commuting glissandos.

It was a venn diagram of a new collaboration. Three people figuring each other out through a friendly musical courtship.

Lindenfield developed all the sonic snapshots we took and sent back this audible portrait. Maddison Colvin made the very good painting for the cover that will die if you don't water it at least once a week. Kyle Wayne Benson put together the elegant title letters and helped with design.
